Our Story

Thula, meaning quiet or to be still, pays homage to the calm and grounding a home can bring.

Born from its founder’s deep connection to Africa, Thula is shaped by time spent in rural regions of Southern Africa. As a former safari guide and researcher, Kirsten worked closely alongside local makers, witnessing the skill, patience, and care that define their craft.

Each piece at Thula is ethically sourced and thoughtfully made by artisans whose knowledge has been passed down through generations. Many of these pieces were also present in Kirsten’s childhood homes, shaping her understanding of home as a place of meaning, connection, and storytelling.

Thula exists to honour the hands behind each piece and to share their story, craftsmanship, and quiet presence with you and your home.
